I really liked this book until the very end, when it made the horrible mistake of misrepresenting sexual consent. The book says " our general guideline here is that we continue until a women makes us stop." Doing something to a woman before you have obtained her verbal consent means she has not consented. As the sexual assault and prevention center at the University of Michigan says "Consent should not be assumed". And "Consent to engage in one sexual activity at one time is not consent to engage in a different sexual activity or to engage in the same sexual activity on a later occasion". So if a women consents to you kissing her, that does not mean that is consent to you feeling her breasts. The only way you know if she consents is to ask before you touch her. Again, from the U Mich website, "A person’s silence should not be considered consent". So if the woman says you can kiss her, then you can kiss her, but if you then touch her breasts without asking her but she doesn't object, then you have not obtained her consent. I hope that Mark Manson will rewrite his book one day to reflect the real definition of consent, because I think it's a good book in other ways. But if you follow his advice when it comes to physical interaction, you are likely to be accused of sexual harassment. Speaking as a woman, I have never done anything else sexual with anyone who has not asked me first explicitly if they could do what they wanted, e.g "can I kiss you now", "can I touch your breasts now". If they behaved the way Mark Manson advised, and just kept going without explicitly asking for consent first, I would immediately kick them out. This book changed my life. Seriously. The last paragraph on the back of the book says it all:"The goal is to create powerful connections with women instead of trying to impress them. It's the most mature and honest guide on how a man can attract women without faking behavior, without lying and emulating others. Stop ACTING like an attractive man and BECOME an attractive man."This book is good for everyone, man, women, gay, straight, married, single. It's about communication and bettering yourself and understanding the complexity and dynamics of communication and dating. It's just specifically written for single men, so a single man would benefit the most from it.My love life has shown SIGNIFICANT positive change right away. Even someone like me, who has had many years of experience in dating, relationships, and such--has benefited greatly because now I UNDERSTAND clearly all the things I've done right and wrong all these years. I understand the principles and fundamentals of why certain things work and others don't.Most of all, this book is one of the few honest and positive books in the men's dating advice genre. Most of the others are gimmicks and/or full of misogyny. This is just about becoming a better man in life, and thus becoming better in dating because of that.Thank you Mark Manson, this book should be required reading for all young men. I wish I read this years ago when I was fresh out of high school. But better late than never!
